Step 1 on How to Transition to New Ways of Eating

Have you ever started a diet, weight loss program, or something similar and feel like it is hard to do? Maybe you are trying to cut back on dairy (which is inflammatory) or gluten, but don’t want to go at it “cold turkey”. Whatever the case may be, change is hard! I’m going to discuss six ways in which you can transition to new ways of eating, regardless of what you are trying to do.

Step 1: It is really important to discover WHY you are doing this in the first place. Ask yourself, “What matters to me most about this? What’s important to me about this? No matter what you are shifting to, whether it’s whole foods, a more gluten free diet, vegetarian, etc., completing the following sentences will be helpful.

  • My decision to move to a new way of eating was prompted by_____________.

  • By moving to this new way of eating, I'm looking to achieve _______________.

  • This is important to me because _____________________.

This is your big WHY and by answering these sentences, you know what you are looking to achieve.
